How Final Expense Works
A final expense life protection policy pays a benefit upon your death. When you set up the policy, you list the beneficiary (the person you want to receive the payment.) The funds are available to pay off any debts that may incur. It is an ideal solution for covering the costs mentioned above, or others that have incurred over a period of time. You can also choose to donate some of the money to your church or favorite charity.
It's important for baby boomers to have some financial protection so that their estate can be left to their loved ones, not sold off to pay debts and final expenses. Of course, there is no way of knowing when or how you will die, or how much medical expenses you will incur; having a solid life protection policy in place will give you peace of mind, knowing your debts and expenses will not be a burden on your loved ones after you're gone.
Life protection policies are available for a price range of $3000 to as much as $50,000, depending on your specific situation, needs and financial obligations. A Senior Protection Bureau consultant can help you determine how much protection you're going to need. They will go over all of your current bills, debts, mortgage, etc. They may ask about your medical history to estimate hospital and medical costs.
Final expenses are not something that anyone wants to think about; however, it is important to have a life protection policy in place so that your loved ones have the resources to pay your funeral costs, medical bills and debts that you have left behind.
